News is the communication of information on current events which is presented by print, broadcast, Internet, or word of mouth to a third party or mass audience.

History of news reporting

In its infancy, news gathering was primitive by today's standards. Printed news had to be phoned in to a newsroom or brought there by a reporter, where it was typed and either transmitted over wire services or edited and manually set in type along with other news stories for a specific edition. Today, the term "breaking news" has become trite as broadcast and cable news services use live satellite technology to bring current events into consumers' homes live as they happen. Events that used to take hours or days to become common knowledge in towns or in nations are fed instantaneously to consumers via radio, television, mobile phone, and the Internet.

How do I contact national TV news channels when I have really important news?
Q. A while back I came across what I considered extremely important news and wanted to let national TV news channels know, most specifically thinking of CNN or even MSNBC, but could not find anywhere I could "click" for lets say "news tips", "contact us", "urgent news", or similar. It may sound silly but there are some things sometimes people feel better telling it to news mediums than police or other authorities. Why? Well because news people are always willing to hear and listen to what you can explain to them in an intelligent way. Most of the time authorities tend to make their own judgement without you finishing your story. Or worse yet cut you off telling you "let proper authorities handle it". I have no idea how any news channel… [cont.]

A. You can notify CNN right here: Is news happening in front of your eyes? Pull out your camera and I-Report it for CNN. Use the form on this page to send files from your computer. Send cell phone video and photos to ireport@cnn.com. (En Espanol) Need help? Use the Toolkit. Some of the videos, photos and audio submitted may be selected for use on CNN.com, in CNN television programming or other CNN programming services, so by sending information you are agreeing to our terms of use.

What religion is preaching the good news of the kingdom of God?
Q. What are the good news of the kingdom of God? What is the kingdom of God? What religion is preaching the good news of the kingdom of God? Matthew 24:14: And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

A. Great question, Boanerge. This is because Jesus identified the period immediately before 'the end of the system of things,' as being the time when the "good news of the Kingdom" would be preached. Everything else he identified in that prophecy has been fulfilled in a massive way. But, most outstandingly, indeed miraculously, that work is being accomplished by a very unique group of people. Why does the news seem to affect the stock market more now than in the past?
Q. When bad news hits, the market drops significantly. We already know about the mortgage problems, that the banks are hurting and so forth, yet when this is on the headlines, people panic. What's the deal?

A. Perhaps the economic news are now more bad than before. And it's not just the headlines that affect the stock market. Companies are now reporting their earnings and/or losses. And stock traders are watching these earnings reports very closely. Citigroup has recently reported a $10 billion loss in the fourth quarter. And that's not the kind of loss any self-respecting stock trader can scoff at. Some other companies may be hiding big losses like that too. But eventually these companies will have to come clean. And that's what the stock traders are afraid of.
