What is witch hazel, and is it the same as bio-oil?
Q. So i want to clear my skin up and get rid of my under eye bags, I've heard about witch hazel, bio oil and paw paw ointment, anyone shed some light on what each product is good for and what it is? A. Bio Oil is good for stretch marks and dehydrated skin for the face and body, but I would use it on my body only..too oily for the face.. Clinique do a great range for puffy dark under-eyes and for general face care and you wont need witch hazel or paw paw...

A. Witch Hazel is astringent for outside and inside and works on sore muscles. So, no, don't use it for cramps. You can drink Raspberry Leaf tea found in the ground isle or buy it fresh from www.dandesoap.com. Raspberry leaf strengthens the uterus and your menstrual flow is clean and symptoms are almost none, and your period lasts about 5 days because it helps the cycle complete without strain on your system. Hot coffee or Hot chocolate are wonderful for cramping, but for the long haul, keep raspberry leaf tea in your routine of eating habits. You can sweeten and drink cold if you prefer.

Witch hazel is great for your skin and also good to use after shaving to help prevent razor burn.I make my own astringent with it,you use witch hazel,alum(it's a powder used in cooking that helps to tighten the pores)and a few drops of tea tree oil which is good for skin.It really helps with acne and doesn't over dry your skin.I like to keep mine in the fridge cause then it feels cool and like it's really working.It's great in the summer too and cools your skin down.I sometimes add a few drops of peppermint to it for the tingly and cool feeling and it smells good too.Hope you like my weird little recipes and i really don't measure anything.Enjoy

A. I always just used witch hazel. Witch hazel is very helpful at treating many things... acne, dandruff, certain skin irritations. I never used tea tree oil.

A. Hiya only if you have oily skin as it will as it has a drying effect (astringent) on the skin. If you have dry, normal or sensitive skin then use rose water as it is calming & hydrating - you will get this at the supermarket & it is inexpensive under $5 for 250ml it will be in the Asian food section! or maybe try the Chinese supermarkets! good luck

A. It depends on what you are using it for. Witch hazel absorbs oil, so it makes a good freshener for oily skin--I used it during my teenage years to control break-outs. (Dampen a cotton ball with the extract, then run it over the oily parts of your face. Repeat until the cotton ball doesn't look gray.) But if your skin is already dry, then obviously you don't want to use it.

Have you heard of a sitz bath that you use herbs such as Witch Hazel in? Have you tried it? How was it?
Q. I heard a "sitz bath" would be great. I'm not talking about plain water or water with iodine it it. A. I never did the sitz bath with the witch hazel... I did however do the regular sitz bath with warm water, then I placed witch hazel compresses down there. It was very soothing. I imagine doing them both in one step would be good. Make sure with your nurse that the "other stuff" in there is okay. Good luck!

A. Supposedly toner is meant to counter the pH of your skin and restore it to normal. (Ripped from magazine article) Personally, I think it's great for people that have oily skin because witch hazel (toner's primary ingredient) is really good at sloughing off unwanted oil and it acts as a gentle exfoliant without all the violent scrubbing. You usually use it after washing your face to close your pores and prevent further acne development. Actually, the truth is, I do the violent scrubbing technique with St. Ives more than I use toner since I have dry skin. If you have dry skin too, then you probably don't need toner except for any occasions where you might sweat a lot, like after a run or good workout. Note: By 'gentle' I mean witch hazel. [cont.]

A. You can get it in any drug store, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Target anywhere that sells toiletries, OTC meds, etc. It is in the same section as rubbing alcohol and first aid stuff. I don't know that you can buy witch hazel with no alcohol. It works wonders on your complexion and keeps redness at bay and helps with blemishes. It also does not dry your skin out. Just wash your face and apply with a cotton ball or pad.

A. I absolutely love witch hazel. I had oily skin and it broke out all the time. My mom told me that when she was a teenager she used witch hazel and it helped her a lot. I decided to use it and within three weeks my face was clearer then i had ever seen it. But before you use it you do have to wash or clean your face with a cleanser. Witch hazel does remove eye makeup and face makeup very well without drying out your skin.

A. I haven't used that brand, but use tree tea oil and witch hazel for a variety of fixes...from TTO in a saline solution to abate allergies and in coco butter for face creme to WH for an astringent...pure product is cheaper and goes further than cosmetic brands.
